social media

Social media is not just about sharing your content, but also the best way to drive traffic to your Website or blog. You should have accounts on at least Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but other good channels are Pinterest, YouTube, SnapChat and Google+, depending on your subject and target audience. Social media management doesn’t have to take a lot of time, but you do need to do it daily consistently to grow your following.

1. Post to Social Media:

Share your own content on your social media channels at least once a day. Vary your posts – always include a photo, but also do videos and live feeds. Make sure to include hashtags that are relevant to your content so that people can find you. And don’t forget to @ mention people or companies that you mention in your posts.

2. Like:

Make sure you like other people’s content. Show the love! They might just like you back.

3. Follow:

Follow accounts that are of interest to you and are of a similar subject to your channels. It is common courtesy for others to follow back – to at least check out your content for a while. Hopefully you are providing high-quality consistency so that they are not tempted to unfollow you.

4. Comment:

Comment on others posts. Tell them what you like about their content. Engage with them. That is how you build relationships through social media, which is why it’s called “social.” Join the conversation!

5. Respond:

Respond when followers comment on your content. Thank them, interact with them, share an emoji. Just let them know that they are being heard and you appreciate their feedback.

6. Share on Social Media:

If you find content on other channels that you enjoy, go ahead and share it with your followers. Just be sure to credit the source that you got it from by using an @ mention and/or hashtag. People love it when you share their content and if you’re lucky they’ll thank you for sharing with an @ mention back to you, which will give you exposure to their followers. Your followers will also enjoy seeing a breadth of relevant content in your feeds – not just your own content.
